Read this article about legislation introduced that would promote composting as a way to deal with food waste. It is estimated that one third of the food we grow and purchase in the US ends up not being consumed. The greenhouse gases generated in growing, transporting, preparing and storing that portion of our food is wasted and more GHGs are produced when the food decomposes in a landfill. Put that wasted food to use growing the next crop.
